The Final Results Of The ChartAttack Readers' Poll Are In

Silverstein took two titles to lead the way in ChartAttack's latest readers' poll, which closed at 5 p.m. Friday.

The Burlington, Ont. emo-punk band's Arrivals And Departures was named favourite Canadian album after receiving 5,208 votes, 698 more than Sum 41's Underclass Hero. Ohbijou's Swift Feet For Troubling Times brought up the rear.

Silverstein lead singer Shane Told was deemed Canada's sexiest male artist after garnering 3,926 votes. Deryck Whibley was second, putting Silverstein and Sum 41 in another 1-2 finish. The Meligrove Band's Jason Nunes is the country's least sexiest musical dude.

Linkin Park's Minutes To Midnight is the top international album with 1,721 votes, with Fall Out Boy's Infinity On High finishing a relatively close second. Puscifer's V Is For Vagina must have offended some of you who are sensitive about lady parts, as it received the least support.

Alexisonfire's "Rough Hands" received the kid gloves treatment from voters and ended with a winning tally of 1,804 votes in the best song category, besting Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" by 487. Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss" was kissed less than any other song.

A lot of you apparently want Lavigne to be your "Girlfriend," as the pint-sized pouter was named Canada's sexiest female artist with 5,393 votes, 3,106 more than Tegan And Sara. We didn't break the lesbian sister duo's results down, so we'll say that they each received 1,553 votes to avoid any potential sibling rivalry. The Besnard Lakes' Olga Goreas finished last, likely because her name is Olga.

Tegan And Sara's hairdos can't be blamed for their second-place finish in the previously discussed category, as their coifs beat all challengers in the best haircut competition with 2,109 votes. Lavigne placed with 1,726, while Kim Bingham must now resign herself to the fact that she has a hairdon't after receiving the fewest votes.

The Reason's "So Beyond This" jumped out to an early lead in the best video race before falling behind Sum 41's "Walking Disaster," but it made a strong charge down the stretch to finish with 3,334 votes, 1,502 more than the Sum hit. Richard Hawley put on an excellent show at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern last month, but apparently no voters were in attendance as his "Lady's Bridge" accumulated the smallest number of votes.

Croc shoes never slipped and officially became the stupidest trend of 2007 with 1,861 votes. MTV's The Hills was second with just half that total. Serialized TV shows must have hooked you, as they were the least chosen option.

Video game junkies pushed Guitar Hero to both big holiday sales and having the honour of being named the sweetest thing to happen in music in 2007 with 2,112 votes, 120 more than Canadian rock. When you're not downloading music off the internet, you apparently would rather purchase tunes from a traditional music outlet and not Starbucks or some other chain offering exclusive releases. Such deals with the devil received just 53 votes — probably from Joni Mitchell and Paul McCartney fans, if they know how to use the net.

Britney Spears' return to releasing records gobbled up tons of votes for the stinkiest thing to happen in music even before her most recent meltdown, and it surpassed the second-place being emo by 757 votes. Reinforcing the results of the previous category, independent record stores were chosen as the least nasally offending option of the 50 offered.

Well, that's it for another year. Start taking notes on the things you love and hate so you can be prepared when voting time comes around for the 2008 poll.
