After four decades of making pop music, Sparks will release their 21st studio album, Exotic Creatures Of The Deep, on May 19. The record will come out through the group's Lil Beethoven Records and should be available to purchase on their website.
The 13-track record from brothers Ron and Russell Mael will be debuted live at London, England's Shepherd's Bush Empire on June 13 to cap a 21-night residency where the group will perform one of their albums in its entirety each evening. The first 20 shows will be held at London's Carling Islington Academy. Things begin on May 16 with 1971's Sparks/Halfnelson.
The engaging Los Angeles duo found initial success — especially in Europe — in 1974 with the hit "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us." Their mix of cheeky lyrics with pop, electronic and dance music has been cited as an influence on the likes of Depeche Mode, New Order and the Pet Shop Boys.
Here are the tracks on Exotic Creatures Of The Deep:
- "Intro"
- "Good Morning"
- "Strange Animal"
- "I Can't Believe That You Would Fall For All The Crap In This Song"
